Mara
Mara Jill Herman is a theater artist dedicated to making art for social change. Benefit concerts conceived, directed, and produced include RUTH SENT US, CHANGEMAKERS, and STRONGER THAN HATE. As a soloist, Mara has appeared at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 54 Below, and with the Orchestra Japan tour of DISNEY ON CLASSIC (Festival Hall, Theatre Orb, Suntory Hall). Favorite productions include RENT (Maureen), BABY (Lizzie), ALL SHOOK UP (Miss Sandra), ON THE TOWN (Hildy), LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST (Maria), and GUYS AND DOLLS (Adelaide). She is featured on the 2022 concept album HOW TO REPAIR A MECHANICAL HEART (Kathy). National/International tours include JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR and BOB MACKIE’S BROADWAY. Mara has won many grants, including the CITY ARTIST CORPS GRANT. She was featured on CBS Mornings with the Queens Theatre Senior Ensemble for Storytelling and Devised Theatre work. Currently, Mara is a Teaching Artist for City Center and New York Theatre Workshop.
